Mormon to Medium
"Deep emotion can break you, or break you open. I chose the latter, and embrace my gifts" Nannette was a lifetime member of the "Mormon" church until tragedy struck her family. In 2014 her husband was violently murdered. It was that day, her heavenly gifts were cracked wide open and she began to "see". Since then, Nannette has embraced her psychic/medium abilities and burst out of the "Mormon bubble"; growing her spirituality in a whole new way. Join her as she "looks beyond the veil" and uses her gifts, understanding, and years of experience to help others navigate their own spiritual journeys.

Welcome to the Mormon to medium podcast, where we'll talk about spirituality, the paranormal religion, and my journey going from Mormon to medium. I'm Nanette Wride. Thanks for listening. Now let's go have some fun.
Brad:Hello and welcome. This is the Mormon to Medium podcast. I'm Brad and I'm here with Nanette and we are kicking off a fantastic new year.
Nannette:Happy New Year.
Brad:new year, everyone. I hope that you guys had an outstanding holiday and spent some wonderful time with friends and family, were really able to enjoy the time.
Nannette:know here at the Zeeman house, we sure did. We had some magical times and lots of click moments. So yeah, we're
Brad:exciting. Um, we sat down and literally put together puzzles, I think for a week.
Nannette:a living. You know what, I guess that's
Brad:Right. Uh, you know what? I guess that's not entirely true. We did have friends over for cocktails one night
Nannette:in a
Brad:and games. So, you know, we're not entirely boring. It was just, it was nice to
Nannette:be quiet and have, you know, good snack food and listen to our book and do the puzzle and just joke around with each other. It was fun.
Brad:was fun. It really was. It
Nannette:Yeah, just quiet.
Brad:was the one day though, when we were sitting down watching TV and the doorbell rang.
Nannette:Oh God.
Brad:Okay. Sometimes you get these unexpected visitors, right? And sometimes you're like, Oh my I'm so glad to see you. And other times you're like,
Nannette:Why are
Brad:are, yeah, why are they here? This was one of those, wait a minute. Why are they here? And okay. I sound horrible saying that because it's, it's okay. I don't mind if they come. I just don't mind. I just don't want to be preached to.
Nannette:Right, right. So, in July of 2023, um, I removed my name from the records of the church. And, um, since then, I get, um, regular missionaries that come to the
Brad:and you probably ought to specify that is the Mormon church, right? Not, not the Catholic church, because you say the church. And different people think of different things. Well,
Nannette:it is the Mormon to medium podcast. So the Mormon
Brad:the Mormon church. Fine, that's, that's fair. God,
Nannette:know, right? Have more coffee, Brad,
Brad:logical. Isn't that
Nannette:but, I've had missionaries that have shown up regularly. Actually two weeks after I got my, my actual resignation, the official, you know, document the whole thing, I had missionary show up. Two weeks after and they haven't stopped. They show up pretty much every month.
Brad:it's been like every other month.
Nannette:I don't know. No, no, no It hasn't like just last month you had we had the boys that showed up and then you told them
Brad:That
Nannette:were in a mixed faith marriage While you were making cocktails and and strangely enough. Oh, he explains that his wife Took her name off the records of the church, but he's still in.
Brad:still in. Yeah, I'm still in. It's The
Nannette:missionaries this time.
Brad:they sent the girls, they're like, alright, let's try a different approach. Let's send the sisters over because they'll be able to sit down with this poor sister who's left the church and help her understand how important it is.
Nannette:And, and they've been nice kids that they're really, really nice kids, but their selves tactics. Yeah. They all say the very same thing. Oh, we're here to talk to you about your neighbors. I'm like, okay, well, they're Jewish over there. They're not Mormon. They're Mormon, but we'll never answer their door for you. These guys are all Democrats, so don't worry about it. It's always the same, the same answer too. So I don't, I don't know how they want to get. in our door or get past anything. But this time, um, I did what I said I was going to do and I gave them a little nugget of wisdom of my own.
Brad:I was a little terrified.
Nannette:You were a lot
Brad:was like, oh
Nannette:He's like quivering behind the door.
Brad:I'm like, be nice.
Nannette:He's like hitting me like my dog does when she wants something. She just paused me and paused me and stares at me. He's doing that behind the door. But I mean, part of my bodies behind the door. And he's hitting me like, be nice, be nice. I'm like, I'm not being a nice. I'm, I'm being nice. Like shut up. But like the one sister, um, was from California and we talked about California for a minute. Cause I'm a Cali girl. And the other sister was from Arizona. And I think I scared the shit out of her. Um, but.
Brad:but well, most of those folks from Arizona, they're, they're just not ready for this.
Nannette:But they, I have family that's in Arizona. I have clients in Arizona. Um, I have awesome clients that are in Arizona. And,
Brad:You, you do actually have some really cool clients and podcast listeners in Arizona. So we're really happy and grateful for you guys. I'll give, I'll give Arizona shit all day long just because of the family that's there and they're not ready for this But I know there are a lot of open minded people in Arizona
Nannette:Oh, totally. Totally. Yeah. So, um, I just gave them little nuggets of wisdom.
Brad:She bore her testimony
Nannette:I did not bear a testimony. I don't have a testimony of their church.
Brad:It doesn't have to be a testimony of their church it was still a testimony hundred percent
Nannette:I just told them, you know, do believe in whatever religion you want to believe in, but you're a soul having a human experience. Remember that. And remember as a soul. You have a birthright to all of your heavenly gifts and, um, I explained to them, you know, would you send your child on a trip somewhere without making sure they could stay in touch with you and get making sure that they would be completely successful? And and the one sister from California was like, yeah, I would make sure that my kid, you know, had everything that they needed. And the other girl's like, I'm not really sure where you're going with this type of thing. But, um,
Brad:was thinking, yeah, that's why God gave us the one true prophet who can communicate with him.
Nannette:yeah, no, she didn't say that.
Brad:No, she was thinking it
Nannette:She might have, I don't know, but I just explained that we have our heavenly gifts that our heavenly father has given us and that we should use those gifts in order to stay in touch with the other side. And I explained to them that there's much more than just one Holy Ghost, that you have an actual team of spirits through there for you. You have spirit guides, angels, ancestors. And everyone that your Ripple has touched, is a part of your team and is there to help you in this life. And you should use their knowledge and, their experience and, you know, their guidance throughout your life to make your life richer. And, the one sister was like, that. That totally makes sense. And the other sister was like, no, I believe in one Holy Ghost. But the, to the, to Arizona's credit, she would only been out for four months. So she was a newbie. And so I, I kind of just let them know, you know, pro tip here, find out who you are, who are you without the church? Who are you standing all by yourself? Who are you and why are you
Brad:Well, and that was really interesting because one of the comments was, well, yeah, you just have to grow closer to him. And Nan said, no, you need to learn who you are as a person.
Nannette:Right. So kind of my pet peeve, um, about religion is everybody blames everything either on Jesus or Satan. You know, if, if you're closer to, to Christ, then you're a better person. But if you do something wrong, then you're closer to Satan type of thing. And, and I think, It makes it so that you're not taking responsibility for your own actions or for your own spirituality. but when you're standing in your own truth and light and you're, you're standing there, speaking, from your heart and from your soul is completely different than speaking for a church. And I wanted to get through to them that look into, you know, who you are without the church, believe whatever you want to believe. I don't believe it because that's not been my journey, but, and that's okay. And I'm not going to take your journey away from you, but. Add this to your journey and, you know, kind of take a look at, at who you are because it's beautiful and it's why you're here. This is our earth is our school and you should realize that and not put wrap everything up in a religion that may or may not be true.
Brad:Yeah.
Nannette:Yeah. So the one girl from California, she goes, she goes, okay, wow. I feel like. I just got taught, um, a really good lesson. And the other girl was like, yeah. And I was like, I, I send you in love and light. Like just, you know, have a great time. I don't know, I don't know that they'll ever be back. I'm pretty sure I
Brad:they might not be back, but you got a great picture with them.
Nannette:I did. And there was no negativity whatsoever. Like I'm not trying to rip down their religion or take it from them. Um, that's their journey. That's their path. And I respect that. And. They need to respect mine and, um, the church is not part of my journey anymore. And by them constantly, you know, I, I'm, I'm talking to the guys when they would knock on the door, they would stay for six or seven minutes banging on the goddamn
Brad:for six or seven minutes banging on that goddamn doorbell. Well, it, it pisses me off because my
Nannette:it, it pisses me off because my dog is going crazy. Like, mom, why aren't you answering the door? I'm like, I'm not answering the door. It's so stupid. Cause I want to punch him in the face. When you don't answer the door, you just go on and leave. You know what I mean? Oh my gosh. It was ridiculous. But I feel like, I feel like I'm being hassled in so many ways and it's fine. I'm never going to be mean and I'm never going to want to rip them down or take their belief system from them. But they need to be able to know that I'm in a different place too and respect my, my beliefs too. And I'm not going to be quiet about what I believe in. If they're going to knock on my door, they're going to hear it.
Brad:And I think that's completely fair and look it's like we've told them if you need to use the bathroom if you need a drink You need to get out of the heat or the cold. You're welcome here anytime, but we just don't want to talk Church with you
Nannette:They don't want us to talk church with them. That's the
Brad:but that's the thing too I think the important That these kids because they're just
Nannette:They are
Brad:It's important to know that they have support and that you know They're cared for and I think a hundred percent because if it was my kid I would want somebody to be like hey come in and get a drink come in and you know get cooled off for a
Nannette:Well, absolutely. And, and you know what? On this journey, we have paid for a missionary, in our family
Brad:we have paid for missionaries.
Nannette:I was out of the church, Brad was out, but we still paid for a missionary because they needed the help and that was their belief system. And, and that's okay. We respect that. That's the thing we need to respect each other's journeys and cheer each other on because we're all learning. And, um, if these missionaries. Need to be on this path to learn awesome, you know, I honor that but they have to honor me too. And that's my point like I, it has to be okay that I'm not going, you know, it has to be okay that I'm different and, and they
Brad:for sure.
Nannette:Yeah. So if they're going to continue to knock on my door, they're going to continue to get little nuggets of love, that I hope that they take to their heart and they know that I mean no harm, but I want to help enrich their life because there's so much more than what the church will allow them to be.
Brad:Next time, we should just have, like, a missionary care package ready. With, like, some crystals and tarot cards.
Nannette:Oh my gosh. No.
Brad:We could just get the, like, at the Mexican market. They've got, like, those, those cheap tarot cards. We'd just give them a cheap tarot deck. Why?
Nannette:because they would think that they were evil and then they would just throw them away. It would be a waste of money, but, but if we had them come in and we did a reading on them, that would be different. I would be open to
Brad:would be open to that. I doubt it. Especially on a mission, I
Nannette:especially on a mission. I doubt
Brad:would be more than
Nannette:but I would be more than happy to read'em if they wanted a reading. That would be fun.
Brad:reading. That would be fun.
Nannette:Yeah, well, I did with the sister missionaries, I did let them know, that I saw stuff with my human eyes, that I saw spirits with my human eyes. And the one sister, like she took two steps backwards. I know I scared her, but, and I didn't mean to scare
Brad:that's a little more normal in California. Unless you're in Sedona. Sedona, they know all about that
Nannette:not California. Oh, that's Arizona. Yeah. You're talking about
Brad:Arizona. Yeah, the California, it's normal.
Nannette:Well, we're talking Gilbert area where the temple is. So yeah, that's like where she is from.
Brad:Yeah. That's the thick of it.
Nannette:It is, you know, though, there's a lot of, LDS people that are there that are super open minded. There are other ones that are full of fear and, and are not open minded. So everybody's on their journey and you have to
Brad:But speaking of journeys, if anyone out there is looking to change the direction they're going right now, Nan has put out an amazing opportunity for everyone to get on their own path and create their own journey through a journey. Energy balancing for themselves. She's actually got classes up on the website and they are live. And if you want to get into a class, you can do that for this coming year. So it's a great opportunity, to join up with Nan and learn about what she does and be able to do it for yourself and put that in your own personal first aid kit.
Nannette:It is so important, yes, to have in your first aid kit. there are pain balances in there, there's everything from balancing the stomach to headaches to all the things, all the symptoms, the body can heal itself. So to be able to balance yourself and your kids and your animals and everything, um, is just so golden.
Brad:to
Nannette:Have that in your toolbox. Yeah, you don't have to go pay a doctor. For something like that when you can do it yourself. Pretty cool.
Brad:Yeah, and that's our mid roll advertisement. Ha, ha, ha. Mormon to
Nannette:Come join me.
Brad:me. Mormon to Medium podcast brought to you by Zenergy.
Nannette:I love it. Yeah. It says energy is the name of my, my energy. Company. So
Brad:So I
Nannette:I love it.
Brad:It's also the name of the energy company in Australia. They actually provide power for the entire country.
Nannette:That is really cool.
Brad:If you're interested, go to zenergysage. com. Yeah. You can
Nannette:Yeah, you can sign up for any of the classes there. the touch for health classes, one through four are in person. The other ones are all on zoom. So. Anyone throughout the world can get on the Zoom call and learn different things on how to balance kids, pets, introduction to Touch for Health, that kind of thing. But if you want to actually learn hands on Touch for Health, you can come get a hug from me and spend a couple days with me and learn how to do it. Oh, there is a limit of 10 students per class. So make sure that you get In there and sign up as soon as you can.
Brad:can. Awesome. Are you going to do multiple sessions of that throughout the year? Have you decided yet? Or is it just going to be one session a year? So just
Nannette:far, I'm just going to see how the one goes and how taxing it is on me. But my plan is to have it twice a year. I'd love to do it again, in October. so towards the end of the year, so
Brad:we'll
Nannette:though. I'll, I'll let you know.
Brad:Got it. Cool. Yeah. Let me know so we can make sure we get it up.
Nannette:Yeah. I mean, I, after all of my clients and teaching and everything, I might need some really good tropical vacations in October. So we'll see. I just saw your eyes get really big, Brad.
Brad:What did, what do you mean?
Nannette:yeah. Oh my God.
Brad:Yeah, you're not subtle at all.
Nannette:You can either join me or stay home. Either way I'm going.
Brad:it'll be interesting to see when the next set of missionaries come.
Nannette:So with it being New Year's, I'm just wondering, um, what are your New Year's resolutions? What are your goals for the New Year? Do you have any? Last year, your goal was to give a
Brad:It was to give a shit. I think I did pretty well. I was very caring and I took my headphones off more often on the plane and had some good conversations with people. So, yeah, I think I did pretty well. Nice. Yeah. I
Nannette:I love that. I don't even remember what mine was.
Brad:Wow.
Nannette:We'll probably have to go back and listen to our own podcast and find out what I, what my goal was, but I always tried to be better than I was the day before. So
Brad:Well, I think you crushed it. You're way better today than you were yesterday.
Nannette:thanks so much. The shitty day yesterday.
Brad:a miserable person yesterday, but today, oh my God, you're awesome. Yeah, so
Nannette:So we're trying to quit coffee for a quick minute.
Brad:Are we? Or are you? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, you
Nannette:haven't had it very much lately, but I'm trying because we've got to drop. We've got to drop some LBs in this house. Like we like to eat so much and, and we need to drop some pounds.
Brad:nothing wrong with that.
Nannette:no, that, that's part of my new year's resolution. I have some LBs to, to, to, Drop and it's not like that. I'm really really heavy It's just I'm heavier than I want to be and I want to be strong. I want to feel really strong I think that that would be really good and I have a busy year
Brad:to be like, bodybuilding strong again? No, no,
Nannette:no, no, no, no, no, no,
Brad:no, no. If, for those of you who don't know, Nan actually did a bodybuilding competition. And she took first in two different
Nannette:I was the only one in the category.
Brad:But she still took first. You did. You're such
Nannette:such a smart
Brad:You took first.
Nannette:Oh my gosh.
Brad:have to tell everybody it was only you.
Nannette:Oh my gosh.
Brad:You, you looked great and you had two great big medals that covered your boobies.
Nannette:I did get two giant medals. They look like
Brad:medals. Yes, they did. But you look great. You put in the work and you, you earned it. You deserve that.
Nannette:don't want to be that kind of strong though. I, I don't, I, I just want my body to feel strong. So I want to, You know, cardiovascularly and yeah, and, and toned. I want to be strong and toned and know that I can go hike all day long and not be exhausted. You know what I mean?
Brad:I mean?
Nannette:Oh my gosh, the triggers stop. You're such as yeah. So y'all may think that me and Brad have like this perfect marriage and we pretty much do, but Brad, he warned me when we were dating that number one, he's oblivious and number two, he is not romantic. Check. Okay, so he, when he is
Brad:romantic I am, I am a romance god.
Nannette:know, when you are romantic, you have to really put some thought into it. And he does, he does. Okay, let me get, get you clear here. But, for our New Year's, Brad was being super romantic. And it was like, Oh my gosh, I think it was like midnight or something. And I always go in and I take a hot bath before I go to bed because it helps my muscles relax. And I just seem to sleep better. It's always been my routine my whole life. And so I've been there. And then pretty soon Brad comes walking in and. He drops, trying to, I'm like, are you getting in here with me? And he's like, yeah. And I'm like, okay, cool. Way to start the new year. Right. He gets in and he's like, Oh, you feel so good. And the water feels so good. And I'm like, what do I feel like? And you know what he says? This is how romantic Brad is. Back skin. I'm like,
Brad:I did
Nannette:I feel like back skin and he's like, yeah, you feel like back skin.
Brad:did not say it like
Nannette:Yes you did.
Brad:No, I did. I
Nannette:Yes, you did.
Brad:my back. Okay.
Nannette:No, you didn't say my back
Brad:Yes, I
Nannette:no, you feel like back
Brad:No, I said my back
Nannette:No, you
Brad:because here's,
Nannette:I'm like, what are you talking about? Back skin. And you're like, yeah, you know how soft my back is. I'm like, well, sometimes you get zits on your back and you have hair at the bottom of your spine. I'm like, you think I feel like skin on your back? Back? I'm like what? Oblivious and not romantic. I'm just gonna say. That's how we started our new year.
Brad:new year. Okay, so, first
Nannette:faith
Brad:I was touching your skin and you're like, How does that feel? And I was like, Well, how do I give her an example of what her skin feels like? I'm like, okay, if she's rubbing my arm it doesn't feel like that because my arm is hairy. And if she's rubbing my chest, my chest doesn't feel like that. My back though, my back might feel smooth and soft like that.
Nannette:He's never living
Brad:feels like my back skin.
Nannette:Yeah, you're never living it down.
Brad:I thought it was the perfect example so you could know what it
Nannette:romantic. Just like when we were,
Brad:I was
Nannette:we were going on a trip separate from each other, and I'm like, why don't you make me a playlist so that it reminds me of you? And, you know, because I have, a playlist of songs that reminds me of Corey. And, um, so I was like, you know, make me a playlist that reminds me of you. Oh, no, he, Brad's a rocker. So he sends me this playlist full of rock music. And I'm like,
Brad:It was songs
Nannette:it was
Brad:I love and you didn't just say that remind me of you You said that you love that might remind me of you and I'm like, oh, I'll send you all the songs I love and I thought I did a great job. I Crushed that assignment. I gave you all the songs that I love and you scoffed at them
Nannette:back skin, Brad, oblivious.
Brad:what it felt like so smooth and soft
Nannette:Yeah, uh huh. Epic fail.
Brad:So I failed the beginning of the year I've got to make up for it I may or may not have been a little embarrassed, so I, I thought I
Nannette:May or may
Brad:not. I thought I did a great job on explaining it.
Nannette:I think your heart was in the right place. I think your brain was somewhere else.
Brad:so hard though. Oh
Nannette:He can, he can believe that's what he said and that's how it came across. I'm just like looking at him with disgust. Like
Brad:She's like
Nannette:I'm an energy worker. You're going to tell me I feel like back skin.
Brad:Yet she was looking for apparently if a girl asked you that she's looking for some sort of like you feel like the warm sun Shining on my face on a beautiful sunrise with the orange glow behind it But you can't be literal You can't be literal. That's not what they're looking for. Just a word of advice to all you guys who listen and all you ladies, just let your husbands know. Please don't be literal if I ask this question. Unless you say it feels like the softest silk from China. I think that probably would have been a good answer. Right? Yeah. Yeah, that's what I thought.
Nannette:kidding.
Brad:Also, don't be romantic when you're impaired. It doesn't work out like you think it will.
Nannette:your wife. God, you couldn't stop laughing after that for like an
Brad:It was hilarious.
Nannette:was just stunned, like, what?
Brad:Okay. Enough about me. So hey,
Nannette:Jinx, you owe me a Coke.
Brad:damn it. Um, I did want to share something with you that I thought was funny. So when we were talking about missionaries before the show, I actually looked up missionary because I was like, Let's see what comes up. Well, when you look up missionary, it's not just like missionary stuff that comes up. One of the big things,
Nannette:Brad, is this sexual,
Brad:course, one of the things that comes up is the missionary position. And I learned actually that the missionary position was Deemed such because that is what missionaries said was appropriate when they would go out and proselytize, but the reason that came about is
Nannette:missionaries that are prose had sex that way.
Brad:No, like the, like the people they were teaching, they would say, Hey, this is the only appropriate way. And this is kind of the thing. So around 1215, um, 80, obviously, um, A cleric had decided that there was one position that was the least disagreeable and it was missionary. Yeah. And the reason was it balanced, you know, the chance of procreation with a relatively low eroticism. But the funny thing is
Nannette:the 1200s, they're trying to control
Brad:people. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. A
Nannette:yeah. Is this a
Brad:Yeah, this is the catholic church Yep, and so they actually began handing out penances for people who
Nannette:punishment?
Brad:oh, yeah So if you went into confession, you know, forgive me father i've sinned blah blah blah blah It's been 30 days since my last confession. Um during that 30 days. I actually had sex while seated Well, they would, they would hand out 40 days of penance, which their punishment included eating only bread and drinking only water, as well as abstaining from sex for a certain amount of time.
Nannette:what
Brad:bread and water. So what do you, if the woman was on top three years, three years, pal, sorry. Yeah. Right.
Nannette:sex and ejaculation.
Brad:Here, here was one oral sex that included ejaculation.
Nannette:on our podcast.
Brad:I can. Um, three to 15 years, three to 15, depending on the theologian. So it was kind of like Bishop roulette, you know, Hey, you drank coffee. You're good. Go to the temple. You drank coffee. Oh, hell no. We're excommunicating you. So it literally, Bishop roulette has been a thing for all the ages. Um, yeah. Oh, here, the withdrawal method, pulling out.
Nannette:Okay, but back in those days, they didn't have, have contraception.
Brad:matter. It's still two to 10 years. So you may as well just
Nannette:Wow. The things you look up.
Brad:right.
Nannette:Okay, you're done.
Brad:Oh, but we didn't even get into masturbation.
Nannette:it's okay. It's okay. Laughter Laughter
Brad:This is the funniest thing. So my friend LD, I was at his house one day and, um, His little brother got a phone call and his mom answered the phone and said, Hey, you know, Gavin, it's the ward clerk. He wants to schedule an appointment to meet with the bishop. And without even skipping a beat, Gavin, Gavin goes, tell him, yes, I pay my tithing and no, I don't masturbate. Oh my God. It was awesome. Anyway, sorry. I got sidetracked, but I thought that was hilarious. Yes. That is a lot of controllers. Oh yeah, yeah, anyway, yeah, it was pretty crazy. And, and that's the, uh, the whole missionary style. Yep.
Nannette:Yeah.
Brad:Yeah,
Nannette:a whole different missionary than what we were talking about earlier, but
Brad:were talking about earlier, but okay. Yes, definitely. And
Nannette:my gosh, Brad.
Brad:that's how I romance my wife. Yep. Thank you though for listening everyone to our uh, wild ramble for the new year and we hope that you have a fantastic new year. Make it your best year yet. will
Nannette:we will see you.
Brad:Oh, we're doing that already. On the other side of the veil.
